Shifting

This is a conceptual work that imagines rectangular volumes shifting vertically in space to form erratic voids between. A 2D square grid is created to rationalize the dimensions and to establish a pattern. The model was constructed out of cardboard, but the texture from the corrugation allowed for material experimentation as a part of the design. Rather than stacking and glueing layers of the board, hollow boxes are created instead; generating two lines of corrugation that adds contrast to each face of the structure. The result is a composition that is simultaneously harmonious and random from all angles.
